North League ministers snubbed Italian Republic Day

All the ministers (Maroni, Bossi, Calderoli) of Northern League (an Italian party) didn't enjoy other institutional rappresentatives in Rome during Republic Day celebrations on 2nd June.
Northern League politicians say they don't feel as italian as "padanian", so the Republic Day is not their party.

My two questions:
1) why did they swear in as Italian Ministers?
2) why they don't give up to their hated italian politician wage?

Italian Minister for Equal Opportunity

Mara Carfagna is an italian former TV showgirl turned into politics.
On 2006 she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in Silvio Berlusconi party.
On 2008 she was appointed Minister for Equal Opportunity by italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.

Mara Carfagna asked for more sobriety to gay communities in order to fight homophobia. (quoted: "[...] gay events should be focused on sobriety and without exhibitionism."). Above pictures show the sobriety and lack of exhibitionism of the Italian Minister before her political engagement.
